On Wednesday April 25, 2013 several students from area schools will spend part of their day at the Springettsbury Police station. There they will assume the roles of Chief, Lieutenant, Sergeant, Corporal and patrol officer and learn the responsibilities of each rank. Two students from Central York High School, two from York Suburban Middle School and two from Saint Joseph’s School were selected to participate in this event. This program is a collaborative effort between the STPD and the local school districts and is designed to foster positive interaction and role modeling between Springettsbury Township Police and local students. At 2pm there will be a brief ceremony at department headquarters awarding each student with a certificate of participation. The day’s itinerary is below:

0930 High School students picked up and brought to station
Introduction of STPD Command Staff and assigned to a Mentor Officer/Commander
Tour of station
Explanation of vehicles and equipment
Meetings with the Chief and Lieutenants
1100 Middle School and Elementary school students picked up and brought to station
Introduction of STPD Command Staff and assigned to a Mentor Officer/Supervisor
Tour of station
Explanation of vehicles and equipment
1130 Question and answer session with respective Mentor Officers
Explanation of responsibilities and Officer assignments
1200 Lunch Break Sponsored by Little Caesars.
1330 Officers for the day will conduct a ride along with an officer and tour Springettsbury Township.
1345 Officers for the day will report for “roll call”.
1415 Receive certificate of participation
1420 All students will be returned to their schools.
