Yesterday afternoon at Central York HS Springettsbury Police Chief Thomas Hyers and School Superintendent Michael Snell hosted approximately 60 executive level emergency responders for a Table Top Exercise. The attendees included representatives of the FBI, Pennsylvania State Police, Fire and EMS, York County 9-1-1, The South Central Task Force, as well as numerous police and investigative personnel from York and Lancaster Counties.   The Table Top Exercise lasted 4 hours during which time representatives from the various components discussed their agency’s role and responsibilities at the site of any critical incident.  Chief Hyers indicated “this meeting was a rare and invaluable opportunity for numerous first responder management teams to coordinate and discuss their various plans and strategies in the event of a major incident.  Unfortunately, meetings such as this, far to often occur after the incident, we all want to ensure we’re ready before anything were to occur.” In addition to the Table-top, Chief Hyers and Dr. Snell addressed teachers and staff members from CYHS later in the afternoon and several dozen parents attended a meeting at the school to discuss the upcoming Oct 11th full scale drill at Central York High School.
