STPD Announces Next Citizen Police Academy

Citizen Police Academy The Springettsbury Police Department is pleased to offer local residents the opportunity to participate in the Springettsbury Police Department Citizen Police Academy. The Citizen Police Academy classes take place one night a week for 10 weeks. Each class lasts 2.5 hours and are generally held at STPD Headquarters on Tuesday evenings. The classes cover a wide range of law enforcement related topics including crime scene investigation, accident reconstructions, Police radio dispatch, and investigative and patrol tactics. Each class is conducted by an expert in the individual class topic. The next scheduled Citizen Police Academy is scheduled to run from January 14, 2014, thru March 25, 2014. Class size is limited to 20 persons and is filled on a first come first served basis. The final class of the academy will consist of a graduation ceremony with the issuance of a “Achievement Award” for each participant from Chief of Police Thomas Hyers.
