On 05/17/14 at 0350 hours officers responded to the Wal-Mart at 2801 East Market St. for the report of an armed robbery.  Employees advised that a black male went to a cash register in the electronics department and handed the cashier a note that said he had a gun and he wanted $20 bills.  The male was given cash and then left the store.  He was followed an employee as he entered a blue van in the parking lot. 

At 0354 a member of the Springettsbury Police observed a blue van traveling west on East Market St. near Memory Ln.  He followed the van and observed it was driven by a black male.  Ofc. J. Shapley initiated a traffic stop on East Market St. at South Ogontz St. and the driver of the van was identified as Curtis Turane of Columbia, PA.  Employees from Wal-Mart positively identified Turane as the subject involved. 

Turane was taken into custody  and transported to Central Booking to be arraigned. He was charged with Robbery and two theft offenses.  No injuries were reported as a result of this incident.
