Random Drug Testing Policy Initiated

Springettsbury Township Police Chief Thomas Hyers announced today that   beginning on Tuesday, July 1, 2014, all sworn members of the Springettsbury Township Police Department, from the Chief of Police to the newest hire, will be subject to a recently approved “Random Drug Testing Policy for Police”. Chief Hyers stated the policy was drafted with the active participation and input from the leadership of the Springettsbury Township Police Officer’s Welfare Association and then approved by the rank and file. Chief Hyers stated a policy such as this goes a long way towards demonstrating departmental transparency and works to enhance public confidence and trust in any community’s police officers.
