On Friday August 26th STPD Officers handled 25 incidents and investigated 5 motor vehicle accidents.  Of those incidents the following crimes were reported:

DUI-Mt Rose Ave at I-83

At 0039 hours an Officer conducted a traffic stop on Mt Rose Ave.  The driver of the vehicle was found to be intoxicated and he was arrested for DUI.  The driver was taken to Central Booking for a blood test and was charged with his second DUI offense.

Vehicle theft-500 block of Quaker Dr

At 0146 hours an Officer with Southwestern Regional Police contacted STPD about a vehicle that was found on fire in their jurisdiction.  The registered owner of the vehicle lived on Quaker Dr and when an STPD Officer made contact with them, they advised the vehicle had been left unlocked and parked in their driveway overnight.  The investigation is ongoing.

Theft from vehicle-500 block Quaker Dr

At 1000 hours the victim responded to the station to report a theft from his vehicle that was parked at his residence on Quaker Dr.  The victim advised several of his vehicles had been left unlocked and someone had entered them overnight.  The only thing that was taken was a wallet containing ID cards.

Theft of auto parts-Ben’s RV Center, 1590 Whiteford Rd

At 1030 hours an Officer responded to Ben’s RV Center for the report of a theft of spare tires off RVs parked in a rear lot.  The theft occurred over the past several days.

Retail theft-Walmart, 2801 E Market St

At 1202 hours an Officer responded to Walmart for the report of a retail theft where two suspects had fled on foot.  The suspects were located nearby and identified.  Investigation to follow with charges pending review of video surveillance.

Theft from vehicle-Roselyn Dr

At 1345 hours the victim came to the station to report a theft from his vehicle that occurred on 8/23/16.  The victim advised that a backpack containing a lap top was taken from his unlocked vehicle which was parked in his driveway.  A suspect was identified by Spring Garden Twp Police and this investigation is ongoing.

Retail theft-Lowes, 2449 E Market St

At 1439 hours an Officer responded to Lowes for the report of a retail theft that occurred on 8/24/16.  An employee provided video surveillance that showed a male taking $687 worth of merchandise without paying.  The male was identified when he attempted to return the items to another store and charges will be filed.

Retail theft-Walmart, 2801 E Market St

At 1428 hours an Officer responded to Walmart for the report of a female in custody for retail theft.  An employee advised the female had taken $137 worth of merchandise without paying.  The female was taken to Central Booking for an active warrant and charged with her second offense of retail theft.
