On Tuesday January 17th STPD Officers handled 21 incidents, investigated 1 motor vehicle accident, and responded to 1 burglar alarm.  Of those incidents the following crimes were reported:

Retail theft-Giant Food Store, 2415 E Market St

At 0809 hours an Officer responded to Giant for the report of a retail theft that occurred on 1/13/17.  An employee advised a male had taken $251 worth of merchandise without paying.  Photographs of the male were provided and they were disseminated for identification assistance.

Theft by deception-Member’s 1st, 2415 E Market St

At 1130 hours an Officer took a report for a theft by deception that occurred at Member’s 1st in August of 2016.  An employee advised a subject passed a check which was later found to be associated with a closed account.  The investigation is ongoing.

Theft from a vehicle-Farmer’s Insurance, 2875 Eastern Blvd

At 1146 hours an Officer responded to Farmer’s Insurance for the report of a theft from a vehicle that occurred on 1/13/17.  An employee advised one of their vehicles was entered and items were taken.  They provided video surveillance of the incident which shows a male skipping and running through the parking lot checking vehicle doors to see if they were unlocked.  Photos of the suspect will be disseminated for identification.

Hit and run-Texas Roadhouse, 1510 Mt Zion Rd

At 1345 hours an Officer met with the victim for the report of a hit and run that occurred at Texas Roadhouse on 1/13/17.  The victim stated her vehicle was struck while it was parked in the lot.

Stolen vehicle-Pizza Hut, 2410 Mt Rose Ave

At 1554 hours an Officer responded to Pizza Hut for the report of a stolen vehicle.  The victim advised his vehicle was parked in the lot and left unlocked with the keys inside.  An hour later the victim discovered his vehicle had been stolen.  It was entered into NCIC.  At 1845 hours the vehicle was involved in an accident in York City and three subjects fled on foot from the vehicle.  The investigation is ongoing.

Retail theft-Walmart, 2801 E Market St

At 1927 hours an Officer responded to Walmart for the report of a retail theft that occurred at 1700 hours on this date.  An employee advised two subjects worked together to take a TV valued at $448 . Photos of the subjects were provided and they were disseminated for identification assistance.

Counterfeit currency-Rite Aid, 3300 E Market St

At 1938 hours an Officer responded to Rite Aid for the report of a subject who tried to pass a counterfeit $100 bill.  An employee advised a male had tried to use the bill to pay and fled when the employee began to examine the bill.  Video surveillance will be obtained and the investigation is ongoing.
