Strong Armed Robbery

On March 22nd 2017 at 2053 hours STPD Officers were dispatched to the parking lot of Weis Markets at 2400 E Market St for the report of a strong-armed robbery.  The victim was a 76 year old female who advised a subject approached her in the parking lot and grabbed her purse while she was holding it.  The victim tried to resist but was knocked to the ground by the suspect.  The suspect then took the purse and ran west across Haines Rd.  Several bystanders pursued the suspect in vehicles and on foot and were able to recover the purse.  The suspect was last seen running north across E Market St.  The suspect is described as a white male in his teens wearing a red sweatshirt and light blue pants.  The victim sustained minor injuries as a result of the incident and was taken to a hospital for evaluation.
