On Tuesday May 16th STPD Officers handled 23 incidents, investigated 3 motor vehicle accidents, and responded to 1 burglar alarm.  Of those incidents the following crimes were reported:

Identity theft-2900 block of Forrest Ln

At 0910 hours an Officer took a report for identity theft that was just discovered.  The victim advised an unknown person had used his information to open a line of credit at Citi Bank in November of 2016.

Retail theft-Giant Food Store, 2415 E Market St

At 0941 hours an Officer responded to Giant for the report of a retail theft that occurred on 5/15/17.  An employee advised a male took a 12 pack of beer without paying.  The male left in a vehicle and the employee was able to get the vehicle’s tag number.  The male was identified and charges will be filed.

Retail theft-Walmart, 2801 E Market St

At 1416 hours an Officer responded to Walmart for three females in custody for retail theft. An employee advised the females had taken a total of $15 worth of merchandise without paying.  The females were found to be juveniles and they were released to a guardian with charges to be filed.

Theft from vehicle/Access device fraud-100 block of Ambleside Dr

At 1427 hours an Officer responded to a residence on Ambleside Dr for a theft report.  The victim advised that within the past few hours someone had taken her bank card from inside her vehicle.  The card was then used for several purchases at the Turkey Hill on E Market St.  The investigation is ongoing.

Theft by deception-Walmart, 2801 E Market St

At 1516 hours an Officer responded to Walmart for the report of a theft that occurred on 5/10/17.  An employee advised a male had conducted a fraudulent return.  He was identified and the investigation is ongoing.

Retail theft-Walmart, 2801 E Market St

At 1832 hours Officers responded to Walmart for the report of a male who fled after committing a retail theft.  The male was located several blocks away and ran from police.  He was taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit.  The male was found to have several warrants and he was taken to Central Booking where he was charged with misdemeanor retail theft.
