On Monday June 12th STPD Officers handled 36 incidents, investigated 1 motor vehicle accident, and responded to 1 burglar alarm.  Of those incidents the following crimes were reported:

Retail theft-Walmart, 2801 E Market St

At 0459 hours an Officer responded to Walmart for the report of a retail theft that just occurred.  An employee advised a female had just been caught leaving the store without paying for $1265 worth of merchandise.  When confronted the female ran back into the store and attempted to hide.  The officer found her in the store and she was taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit near the electronics section.  The female was in possession of drug paraphernalia and found to have two prior convictions for retail theft.  She was taken to Central Booking and charged with numerous offenses.

Retail theft-Giant, 2415 E Market St

At 0942 hours an Officer responded to Giant for the report of several retail thefts that occurred earlier.  An employee advised a male had taken seafood from the store on 3/27/17, 6/3/17 and 6/11/17.  Photos of the male were provided and he was identified due to his involvement in a robbery at another store.  Charges to be filed.

Forgery-Members 1st FCU-2415 E Market St

At 1400 hours an Officer took a report for a forgery that occurred at the Members 1st FCU on 6/9/17.  The victim reported that a known subject had forged one of her personal checks at this location.  Charges to be filed.

Theft by deception-700 block of Mundis Mill Rd

At 1415 hours an Officer met with the victim for the report of a theft by deception that occurred last week.  The victim advised that he received a phone call from a subject claiming that his grandson was in an accident and the grandson needed money due to getting arrested for DUI.  The victim wired the subject $5600 only to later find out it was a scam and his grandson was fine.

Hit and run-Walmart, 2801 E Market St

At 1547 hours an Officer responded to Walmart for a hit and run report.  A witness advised she saw a white truck with WV tags strike a parked vehicle and then leave the scene.

Theft-800 block of Bonneview Rd

At 2026 hours an Officer responded to a residence on Bonneview Rd for the report of a theft.  The victim advised that she and her boyfriend had gotten into an argument and following the argument, he had taken a TV and a handgun from the residence.
