On Wednesday July 26th STPD Officers handled 28 incidents, investigated 3 motor vehicle accidents, and responded to 5 burglar alarms.  Of those incidents the following crimes were reported:

Theft-Zales, 2899 Whiteford Rd

At 1335 hours an Officer responded to Zales for the report of a theft.  A manager advised that several pieces of jewelry had been stolen over the past several months.  The investigation is ongoing.

Retail theft-Sprint, 2899 Whiteford Rd

At 1607 hours an Officer responded to the Sprint Store for the report of a retail theft that occurred on 7/25/17.  An employee advised a female had taken a phone valued at $696.  The investigation is ongoing.

Harassment-Walmart, 2801 E Market St

At 1646 hours an Officer responded to Walmart for the report of a domestic.  The victim advised her boyfriend had ripped off her necklace during an argument.  The male was no longer on scene and will be cited for harassment.

Retail theft-Walmart, 2801 E Market St

At 1834 hours an Officer responded to Walmart for the report of a retail theft where two male suspects had fled.  An employee advised they had taken $179 worth of merchandise without paying.  They got into a vehicle and the tag number was obtained.  The investigation is ongoing.

Criminal mischief-3300 block of Deininger Rd

At 2021 hours an Officer responded to a residence on Deininger Rd for the report of a subject damaging a mailbox.  Contact was made with the owner of the property and they declined prosecution on the suspect, who was still on scene.

DUI crash/Possession of heroin

At 1917 hours Officers responded to the parking lot of 2300 E Market St for the report of a vehicle that struck a pole.  The driver was found to be under the influence of narcotics and in possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia.  He was arrested and transported to Central Booking where he refused to submit to a blood test.  Charges were completed for the drug offenses and the male’s second DUI offense.
