On Monday October 16th STPD Officers handled 35 incidents, investigated 5 motor vehicle accidents, and responded to 3 burglar alarms.  Of those incidents the following crimes were reported:

DUI-Mt Rose Ave at Haines Rd

At 0357 hours an Officer responded to this intersection for the report of a male passed out behind the wheel of a vehicle.  Contact was made with the male and he was taken into custody for DUI.  He was transported to the hospital for a blood draw and then to Central Booking for processing.  Charges were completed due to this being his second offense for DUI.

Retail theft-Lowes, 2449 E Market St

At 1235 hours an Officer responded to Lowes for the report of a retail theft.  An employee advised a male and a female had taken a combined total of $1018 worth of merchandise without paying.  They left the area in a silver vehicle.

Access device fraud-Several locations

On this date STPD Officers took 4 reports for access device fraud.  The victims advised an unknown person used their bank card information to make unauthorized withdrawals and/or purchases.  Detectives are following up as these are likely related to similar incidents reported yesterday.

Theft from a vehicle-Walmart, 2801 E Market St

At 1515 hours an Officer met with the victim for the report of a theft from a vehicle.  The victim stated a handgun was taken out of his unlocked vehicle while he was in the store.

DUI crash/Hit and run-3800 block of Stuart Dr

At 1959 hours an Officer responded to the 3800 block of Stuart Dr for a hit and run report.  The victim advised his parked vehicle was struck by another vehicle which fled the scene.  The striking vehicle was located nearby and the driver was found to be intoxicated.  She was arrested for DUI and taken to the hospital for a blood draw and then to Central Booking for processing.  Charges were completed due to this being her second offense for DUI.
