Central York School Incident

News Release – February 16, 2018

Springettsbury Township Police Department was notified by Central York School District of a disturbing photo circulating on social media. The photo displayed a student displaying a gun in the Middle School restroom. Two middle school students were identified and interviewed in this incident. Investigation revealed the photo was taken on February 15, 2018, and the gun displayed in the photo was found to be a BB gun. The BB gun was recovered and is in police custody. We are currently working with the District Attorney’s office to determine appropriate charges.

We would like to thank the School District and the community for helping to keep our students safe and secure, and appreciate those who alerted the authorities of the disturbing photo. For the future safety of our students, we encourage you to share any concerns with police and school officials. It is important as a community that we work together as a team to keep everyone safe.
