The Springettsbury Police Department is kicking off the Springettsbury Blue Beards today!

What? When? From October 29th through December 7th, our department will not be shaving, but instead growing beards. Each officer is required to pay $40 for 40 days of no shaving (general trimming and grooming is allowed). Any person who shaves prior to the end date will have to pay an additional $40.

Why? All the money raised by the officers will go toward a cancer charity. In fact, each officer will be wearing a pin that represents a cancer close to them/their family. We want to raise awareness of how cancer affects so many people. We can all take steps to reduce risks by: staying health, limiting alcohol use, protecting our skin in the sun, getting routine checks & screenings, & more!

Now what? You can join the cause! Donate toward the general cause, or donate toward an officer to keep his beard growing! The officer that raises the most donations will get to present the final check to the the chosen charity. Checks can be made out to “Springettsbury Police Community Care Fund” Attn: Blue Beards (specify officer if applicable). Cash can be dropped  off at our station between 8AM – 5PM, Monday – Friday.

We thank you all for your support! Check out our social media pages for pictures along the way!
