Community Care Fund

The Springettsbury Police Community Care Fund was established to allow officers to provided immediate help for the needs of our community.

The Springettsbury Township Police Department is honored to provide services to all residents and visitors to our community. Officers come into contact with countless individuals, who are going through undesirable life circumstances and a significant number of these individuals need immediate support. On many occasions officers have assisted individuals in need by providing meals, paying for a hotel room, gas for their vehicle, or giving these individuals a ride to a nearby shelter.

In the beginning of November 2015, Springettsbury Officers began to assemble packages of essential care items to be placed in each patrol vehicle. The packages include hygiene items, socks, gloves, granola bars and other items to assist people in their time of need. The items for these packages were personally donated by the members of the Police Department.

In the fall of 2015 the Department received a donation of $1,000.00 from a family who requested to remain anonymous. The family stated they have been blessed in life and wanted to share their blessings. The family requested the entire donation be given away to members of the community. They wished to enlist the help of the Springettsbury Township Police Department to accomplish this goal. To facilitate the wishes of the family, Springettsbury Township Police Officers handed out one hundred dollar bills to people in the community at random on Friday, December 18, 2015. The Department is thrilled at the prospect of making people’s lives a little brighter during the holiday season. We wanted to share our gift of being able to do this with the community by inviting members of the media to ride along.

The Springettsbury Township Police Department has been approached on many occasions by members of the community and asked “How can we help people in need?” The generosity of this anonymous family and the Police Department members has been an inspiration. The department has decided to develop an account entitled “Springettsbury Police Community Care Fund”. This fund will give members of the community the ability to donate money to help people in need. One hundred percent of the funds will be used by officers to help people they come in contact with who have an immediate need. None of the money will be disbursed to the Police Department or any of its members. People wishing to make a donation to the fund can mail or drop off a check at the Springettsbury Township Police Department or the York Traditions Bank.  Checks should be made payable to “Springettsbury Police Community Care Fund”.
